The Lincoln Park District Board of Commissioners consists of five individuals who are elected by the community to represent the community’s best interests. Board
members serve a four-year term and do not receive compensation.
The Lincoln Park District Board of Commissioners are a group of
elected officials charged with setting policies that guide the Park District’s
operations and investing in the creation and maintenance of facilities, parks, and programs designed to meet the community’s recreational needs. They come from a variety of backgrounds but share one important trait, a commitment to serving the community.

The Decennial Committees on Local Government Efficiency Act, 50ILCS 70/1, et set., requires units of local government that levy any tax, including park districts, forest preserve districts, and conservation districts, to form a committee to study local government efficiencies and issue a report to the county board in which the unit of local government is situated. The act does not apply to municipalities and counties.
The Lincoln Park District is a municipal park district that utilizes local tax dollars, in conjunction with revenue from memberships and other registration fees, to provide and maintain recreational opportunities in the community of Lincoln, such as the sports complex and gym, seasonal aquatics center, multiple local parks and playgrounds, and youth and adult sports and programs. Statewide, most Park District revenue comes from non-tax sources, with earned revenue representing over a third of their income. At the local level, 74% of all revenue for the Lincoln Park District comes from non-tax sources.
